ABOUT HBF

The Hoso Bunka Foundation (HBF), is a public interest incorporated foudation that, as its name Hoso Bunka or Broadcast-Culture suggests, aims to promote the cultural and technological development of broadcasting. The foundation was established by Japan's public service broadcaster, NHK-Japan Broadcasting Corporation, in February 1974 with an endowment of ¥12 billion (¥12,000,000,000).

GRANTS
The Hoso Bunka Foundation provides annual grants for projects related to "broadcasting" that contribute to the advancement of broadcasting and broadcasting culture. The foundation welcomes proposals with a creative and original perspective from individuals and organizations.

AWARD
The HBF PRIZE annually recognizes outstanding broadcast programs and digital media content that have made a deep impression on the audience, and that have contributed to the development and improvement of broadcasting culture.
The prize also honors excellence in individual/group accomplishments in the fields of Broadcasting Culture and Broadcasting Technology.

FORUM
The HBF Creators' Forum brings together producers from commercial broadcasters, NHK, and production companies. Designed to nurture future creators and promote networking, it offers opportunities to exchange views and gain new insights. Regional forums are co-hosted with local executive committees, while the Tokyo forum is organized solely by the Hoso Bunka Foundation.
